Today I felt the need to write about a topic that came to my attention that I believe most everyone can relate to……………..”How do you keep a positive attitude when your career appears stagnant? “
Well, first of all, let me start off by saying that I’m by no way, shape, or form, a self-help expert, but one thing I do know is that life has its ups and downs. That’s for certain!
I believe it’s easy to allow life’s circumstances (good or bad) to influence our moods, behavior, etc. Is it because we’re HUMAN? Here’s the million-dollar answer………YES! We have EMOTIONS. Some of us tend to express them more than others (you know who you are – so don’t trip! Lol).
Our emotions are a good thing…unless we let it overwhelm us of course. Personally, it lets me know I’m still ALIVE! However, it’s very important to strike a balance between dream career goals and your wellbeing.
Building a career or following a dream is a challenge. Is anything in life worth pursuing ever comfortable? I believe that once you’re able to answer that question, then you’re ready to navigate through life’s tumultuous journey knowing that what you’re pursing will require a lot of bumps and bruises along the way, and you will be better prepared to deal with reality.
Some of you might already have your proven method or a sound approach to achieving a favorable outcome or good attitude when your career appears sluggish. If so, please do share in our comment section below.
For me, I like to start my day with a PRAYER. That works best for me! I find a certain peace, calmness and stillness before going out into the chaos. Besides, after being told numerous times over the years that “I need to land the plane” (another expression for “get to the point!”), or “man can he talk!”, “you don’t need caffeine”, or “you sure know how to close down a party” (all in love I hope. Lol) – that balance of energy is very important! It has taught me to be a better LISTENER – yet, still be myself.
Most importantly, I find when my career is moving turtle speed, that when I stop reflecting on myself, and shift my focus on what I can do for others in need – or just a simple helping hand, a phone call to see how they’re doing – my stagnant career doesn’t seem quite that slow-moving anymore. I believe sometimes it’s ok to SHIFT the FOCUS for a more balanced and rewarding perspective on life.
